Holistic Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy offers a focused and deeply relaxed way of working with the mind, body, emotions, and patterns of behavior. During hypnosis, you remain aware, responsive, and in control. You are not asleep or unconscious, and you do not lose the ability to make choices. Instead, hypnosis creates a state of focused attention in which it can become easier to work with thoughts, emotions, habits, imagery, and inner experience in purposeful ways.

Mark uses hypnotherapy as part of an individualized, integrative approach to personal change, emotional well-being, and mind-body support.

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and relaxation. Most people experience similar states spontaneously—for example, while becoming absorbed in music, reading, meditation, daydreaming, or an activity that captures their full attention. In a hypnotherapy session, this natural capacity is used intentionally. You remain aware of what is being said and are free to accept, reject, question, or respond to anything presented during the session. Hypnosis is not mind control, and you are not compelled to reveal information or do anything that conflicts with your values or wishes.

Many people experience hypnosis as calming, comfortable, and restorative.

What is Holistic Hypnotherapy

Mark’s approach to hypnotherapy is holistic because it considers the whole person rather than focusing only on a symptom or isolated problem. Thoughts, emotions, beliefs, behavioral patterns, physical responses, life experiences, relationships, stress, and personal meaning can all influence the way a problem develops and continues. Holistic Hypnotherapy creates an opportunity to work with these different dimensions together.

Rather than relying on generic scripts or simply repeating positive suggestions, Mark individualizes each session around your particular goals, experiences, and circumstances.

Depending upon what you are working on, a session may include:

  • Hypnotic suggestion
  • Guided imagery
  • Emotional processing
  • Exploration of beliefs and behavioral patterns
  • Nervous-system regulation
  • Mind-body awareness
  • Regression therapy
  • Parts therapy
  • Reframing and perspective change
  • Strengthening confidence and positive expectation
  • Developing new responses to old triggers
  • Reinforcing healthier habits and choices

The aim is not simply to suppress an unwanted response. It is to help you develop a deeper understanding of what is happening and create new ways of responding that feel healthier, more supportive, and more aligned with the life you want to live.

Working With the Whole Person

No matter what difficulty brings you to a session, there is more to you than the problem itself. Long-standing habits, fears, emotional reactions, and self-limiting beliefs can sometimes become so familiar that they begin to feel like part of who we are. Hypnotherapy can help create some distance from these patterns so they can be understood and approached differently.

Mark’s work emphasizes helping you reconnect with your present-day resources rather than remaining defined by old conditioning, previous experiences, or habitual ways of responding. Change does not have to come through force or constant struggle. Often it begins by developing greater awareness, flexibility, self-understanding, and access to choices that previously felt unavailable.

An Individualized Approach

Hypnotherapy Holistic imageMark does not use generic hypnosis recordings or standardized scripts during private sessions. Each session is prepared around your particular goals, experiences, preferences, and progress. Some people respond especially well to imagery. Others benefit more from direct suggestion, conversational hypnosis, emotional processing, body awareness, or a combination of methods.

Mark draws from more than three decades of professional experience to adapt the process to the person rather than requiring the person to adapt to a fixed method.

Experience You Can Trust

Mark Bancroft, MA, CHT, has practiced hypnotherapy professionally since 1994 and has conducted thousands of private and group sessions. His approach has developed through decades of direct work with clients, academic study, professional training, and continued exploration of psychology, consciousness, mind-body practices, personal development, and human change.

Hypnotherapy is often incorporated with life coaching, spiritual counseling, nervous-system regulation, and other complementary approaches when doing so is appropriate to the client and their goals.
